―19― Sin
The cause of death was suicide.
She had hung herself right near where I was sleeping.
"Ugh..."
I couldn't help it; I vomited on the spot.
...I don't understand.
Did she really kill herself because she was rejected by someone she liked?
What is this...?
It's as if I'm the one at fault.
"I don't get it..."
I muttered.
I wanted to convince myself that I hadn't done anything wrong.
This must have been some sort of accident.
Then, I lowered her down. Her body was heavy, probably because it was a corpse.
I should bury her, but there's no place for that in the dungeon. So, I laid her down on the bed.
And then, I left the hideout.
Soon after, I found myself surrounded by several monsters.
I had come this far with Agaha's help.
Now that she was gone, there was no way I could break through.
Eventually, I died helplessly.
◆
"Ugh..."
I woke up, realizing I had died and returned.
I was inside the treasure chest room.
I felt heavy. It was my fault that a girl had lost her life.
What should I have done differently?
Should I have accepted her love?
But I had Namia. How could I choose Agaha when I had Namia? No, Namia was already dead. It doesn't matter.
Agaha is objectively cute, and I don't mind her affection for me.
So, I should have accepted her.
Yes, that's right. So, I was wrong.
Before I knew it, I found myself back at the barrier where Agaha was sealed.
"Who are you?"
I suddenly realized I had said her name.
"I'm Kisca."
"Kisca, huh? I've never heard of you. But why do you smell so repulsive?"
What is this feeling?
The girl in front of me, who should have been Agaha, seemed like a completely different person. She looked like Agaha, but...
"Are you Agaha?"
I asked.
"Ah, I see. So, you're the one who's met us before."
Indeed, if she knew about my "Save & Reset" skill, it was only natural for her to assume I had met her before time looped back.
"And, judging by your actions last time, you were hostile towards us. That's why you smell bad."
"W-Wait, it's a misunderstanding! I'm not your enemy—"
I couldn't finish my sentence.
She had grabbed my neck.
"Listen carefully. Don't think that everything will be back to normal if you die. Your actions are imprinted on your soul."
"Who are you?"
"I won't tell someone as evil as you who I really am."
"Let me talk to Agaha."
"No, she has rejected you."
What is this...?
Why?
"Advice: Do not have any further contact with Agaha."
With those words, she snapped my neck.
◆
"I-I don't understand..."
I woke up, realizing I had died and returned.
Someone who looked like Agaha had killed me.
"Don't have any further contact with Agaha."
The words echoed in my mind.
I get it. I won't return to Agaha, and I won't break her seal. Is this enough?
However, without Agaha's assistance, escaping the dungeon would be difficult.
Considering that, I needed to find another way.
"Should I try stepping on the other teleportation array?"
Besides the teleportation array that led to Agaha's location, there were two more.
Maybe stepping on the other array would lead me to a solution to this situation.
With that decision, I stepped onto the second teleportation array.
◆
The place I teleported to was another straight path.
So, I followed it.
I soon spotted something in the distance.
A table, chairs, and a girl sitting on one of the chairs.
She was dressed in a flamboyant manner, as if she were a young lady.
"Oh, how rare. An intruder finding their way into this place."
She said while sipping her tea.
Um...
I was bewildered by her behavior, which didn't fit the dungeon at all.
Who is she?
"What brings you to a place like this?"
She spoke again and looked my way.
"Um, I'm trying to find an exit to get out of the dungeon."
I answered honestly.
Maybe she would tell me the location of the exit?
"I see. That makes sense."
She nodded as if understanding.
And then—
"How rude of me. You mustn't know who I am. I am Yehudit, the great true ancestor vampire."
"Huh?"
Before I knew it, she was right in front of me.
Then, she thrust a deep red sword towards me.
"For that sin, atone with death."
As her words reached me, my consciousness faded.
