―17― Everything is Going Smoothly
The girl who introduced herself as Ageha was incredibly powerful.
Drawing swords from the void, she slashed down A-ranked monsters one after another.
Following her seemed to be a surefire way to conquer the dungeon.
"Hey, Kiska. Am I strong?"
"Yeah, you're strong."
"See? I knew it."
She wore a proud expression.
Her monster-slaying progress was going smoothly enough that we could hold a conversation.
"Hey, where are we in the dungeon?"
"Well... probably around the 45th floor."
The 45th floor. It seemed we had come quite deep into the dungeon.
"Which way are we heading now?"
"Toward the dungeon boss."
"Shouldn't we go back to the entrance?"
"Unfortunately, once you've reached this floor, there's no way to return to the entrance."
"I see."
Given that, it was inevitable that we would head towards the boss room, which could be considered the exit.
"Are you worried, perhaps?"
"Well, saying I'm not worried would be a lie."
"Don't worry. You can relax because I'll protect you."
"Is that so?"
From then on, Ageha continued to defeat monsters that attacked us one after another.
After she dispatched the monsters, they disappeared into the void as she disassembled them.
"By the way, Ageha, how are you...?"
"Just call me Ageha. I look younger than you, after all."
"Sure, Ageha. So, why were you in that place?"
"Ah, I was sealed there in the past. It was because of a betrayal."
Betrayal, huh? She might be in a situation similar to mine.
"About the skill I got from you, do I need to return it...?"
"Are you talking about 'Save & Reset'? Once I've given a skill, it's not easy to take it back. So, it's yours now."
"Is that how it works?"
"Well, either way, I'm really grateful that you came to me. So, I'm thankful to you, Kiska."
"Is that so?"
"Yes. If you hadn't come, I would have remained sealed there. So, you're my savior, Kiska."
"That sounds a bit exaggerated."
"Not at all."
"Well, I'm also alive thanks to your skill, Ageha. So, I guess we're even."
"Hehe, you're right."
Conquering the dungeon with Ageha was going smoothly.
Almost too smoothly, it was scary.
Still, I hadn't done much at all.
"Here's the room where the mini-boss is."
Ageha suddenly stopped in front of a door.
"What's in there?"
"I'm not sure yet. But don't worry, Kiska. I'll protect you."
"Thanks."
It was a bit embarrassing to be told by a girl that she would protect me. But since she was stronger, I couldn't really complain.
In any case, we entered the room with the mini-boss.
"It's the Rock Golem, an S-ranked monster."
Before us stood a gigantic creature that easily exceeded 10 meters in height, resembling a massive structure made of rocks.
"Kiska, stay back."
"Alright."
And so, a fierce battle between Ageha and the Rock Golem unfolded.
Ageha fearlessly charged in, wielding her large sword with great determination.
Her movements were agile and powerful, showing no hesitation even against the massive Rock Golem.
"Amazing..."
With her skills, she might be able to defeat the Rock Golem without much difficulty.
"Ah!"
Just as I thought that, Ageha was hit by an attack from the Rock Golem and was sent flying.
This was bad. The Rock Golem was preparing to attack Ageha again while she was still off-balance.
"Hey, look over here!"
Before I realized it, I had used my skill "Provoke."
Immediately, the Rock Golem turned its attention to me.
"No, Kiska!"
Ageha shouted, but I couldn't let her do all the saving.
The Rock Golem aimed its fist at me, preparing to strike.
"Unfortunately, dodging is one thing I'm good at."
I had plenty of experience evading attacks from the Grizzly Bugbear over and over again.
If I could make use of that, avoiding the Rock Golem's attack should be relatively easy.
"Hey, target me more!"
I further provoked the Rock Golem.
In response, the Rock Golem launched multiple attacks at me.
It's alright. The Rock Golem's movements were slow and monotonous compared to the Grizzly Bugbear's. With careful observation, dodging should be easy.
At least I could buy some time until Ageha recovered.
"Thank you, Kiska. With this, I can defeat it."
Saying that, Ageha held a radiant sword.
While I had distracted the Rock Golem, she had been preparing a technique that required some time to activate.
"Holy Way Sword Art: Dragon Slayer Slash!"
As she swung her sword, the Rock Golem split cleanly into two.
It was clear to anyone watching that she had defeated the Rock Golem.
"Kiska!"
Saying that, Ageha leaped into my arms.
I quickly caught her.
"We did it!"
"Yeah, I guess we did."
I nodded.
At that moment, I believed that everything was going smoothly.
